Forget Carter | The North East on screen, with Chris Phipps
2016 is the 45th Anniversary of Mike Hodges classic Get Carter, controversially viewed as the definitive film image of Newcastle. Media historian Chris Phipps traces how the city has been dramatised and portrayed on the big and small screens. Chris gives you a personal tour, from the heist plots of Payroll to the politics of Our Friends in the North. He also touches upon reality TV such as Geordie Shore, plus his celebrity encounters.
You are invited to join in the discussion - is it time to defy the stereotype and Forget Carter?
Presented in association with Tyne Bridge Publishing.
This talk takes place in the Black Gate, which is fully accessible to wheelchair users.
