Riverplains Farm Harvest Moon Dinner
Join us at Riverplains on September 29, 2012, for a true outdoor farm to table experience. By the banks of the winding Holston, come sit among the riverbottom fields of alfalfa, clover, heirloom corn and young turnip greens. We'll begin the evening at 5pm with hors d'oeuvres and apertifs and move on to a full, four course meal. In the spirit of the Harvest Moon, we are delighted to share a menu pairing late summer's abundance with the beloved crops of early Fall. As always, we'll source almost entirely from our farm's own bounty, including our heritage pork, grass-fed beef, Hickory Cane hominy and cornmeal, and all manner of organic heirloom vegetables -- from fire roasted green tomatoes to pickled pole beans and white winter squash soup.

Starter: Caramelized Onion, Fig and Goat Cheese Galette, w/ (Lacto-Fermented) Pickled Pole Beans
On the table: "Bloody Butcher" Corn Cakes w/ handmade butter
First Course: Roasted Garlic Winter Squash Soup w/ Sweet Bell Pepper Chutney
Second Course: Wilted Greens Salad w/ Chopped Egg, Beetroot Relish and Buttermilk Sorrel Dressing
Main Course: Slow-cooked Pastured Pork w/ Fire Roasted Green Tomatoes and Buttered Hickory Cane Hominy
Dessert: Classic Apple Pie w/ Fresh, Caramel Whipped Cream
