Alley Underground: Theater Slightly Askew embraces its namesake with this new play of a comeback concert gone wrong. Levi Middlebrooks was the slightly pudgy member of a hit 90s boy band called Kinect4, which had one major song, "Leave U", hit #17 on the pop charts. However, as their popularity waned, Levi took the predictable path down years of drug and alcohol abuse until his ultimate breakdown was immortalized on YouTube. Through years of rehab, Levi finds two sources of redemption -- Christianity and his new girlfriend, Cassie. Now, after honing his craft, Levi has pinned his hopes on a comeback concert at the Visual Arts Collective in Garden City, Idaho where he will play some of his old Kinect4 hits before kicking off his career as a big name in Christian Rock. But when he makes an earth-shattering discovery about the people around him he trusts most, will he make it through the concert? Or will his breakdown once again be witnessed (and recorded) by thousands of people?
With a team of local actors and writers, Alley Underground aims to create an unconventional play in an unconventional setting. Using the entire space of VaC with scenes taking place backstage, in the audience, and elsewhere, the show will make the audience feel like they're at a concert, complete with free t-shirt giveaways and Levi Middlebrooks CDs for sale.
