Solemn Oath Homebrew Packaging Class
Is the bane of bottling keeping you from brewing? Want to keep oxygen away from your precious homebrew during packaging? Do you dream of kegging your beer?
Solemn Oath Brewery is hosting a homebrew packaging class just for you. And a couple dozen other people. Led by Solemn Oath brewer and experienced educator Paul Schneider, this hands-on class will guide you through packaging your beer from start to finish.
This class is designed for you to learn three distinct ways to package and carbonate your homebrew:
1) bottling via siphon, 2) kegging, 3) and slinging a beer gun to bottle from a keg. Those second two options are where the time, improved quality, and smiles are hidden. We will focus on those less common, but vastly superior methods in the class, as well as explore ideas such as using kegs as secondary fermenters. We will also tour the brewery to learn how packaging works in full-scale production brewing, and we will certainly visit the taproom to stay nourished.
Topics covered: The great debates - to fine or not to fine, forced vs. natural carbonation, bottling vs. kegging, siphon vs. beer gun, homemade beer gun vs. Blichmann Equipment - what's really necessary to start kegging v. what's really nice to have, keg refurbishing and care, how NOT to leak your CO2 tank to empty Process - fining, dry-hopping, transferring, and carbonating Resources - a guide to local homebrew shops and clubs, books, magazines, free online tools and calculators, wisdom, self-deprecating humor, self-aggrandizing humor, etc.
We are including two beers from the taproom in your ticket price. Bam.
