How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
The award-winning Theatre Department of Marin School of the Arts stages the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying directed by Rodney Franz in the Performing Arts Center at Novato High School.  From the authors of Guys And Dolls comes one of the most delightful musicals of all time. Frank Loesser delivers ingenious lyrics and memorable tunes. Written in the Madmen era, the comedy satirizes big business and all it holds sacred. The show follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses a little handbook called "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" to climb the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive, tackling such familiar but potent dangers as the aggressively compliant "company man," the boss' whiny, nepotistic nephew, the office party, backstabbing co-workers, caffeine addiction and, of course, true love.

Devin Parker Sullivan provides extraordinary choreography. Musical Director Scott DeTurk leads the band of 11 exceptional MSA musicians, coached by Dr. Greg Johnson.

Originally produced in the 60s, MSAs production sets the story as a timeless fable in no particular period. Guaranteed to appeal to anyone who has ever worked in an office, the show boasts a stellar, show-stealing role in its antihero, played by Frank Demma (recent winner of Best Actor at the Rita Moreno California High School Musical Honors), as well as quirky, memorable characters (a cast of 38), a catchy, witty score that's bright and brassy with a wicked sense of humor. Critics raved in New York for the original Broadway production. It won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The show scored two more Tonys from  both Broadway revivals.

How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying opens Friday, November 4th, at 7:00 pm in the Performing Arts Center at Marin School of the Arts, 625 Arthur Street, Novato.
