Dia de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos at the D.H. Burrell Overlook Mansion Bed & Breakfast and Event Center, Friday, October 28, 2016, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm!

Join us for a family friendly event in celebration of our ancestors and the blessings of the fall season at the historic Overlook Mansion in Little Falls! Enjoy refreshments of Tapas and punch, while participating in activities for both adults and children, including Salsa dancing with Sergio and Yulia, decorating sugar skulls, going on a scavenger hunt, and storytelling with Little Falls Theater. Costumes welcome but not required.

The Mexican "Day of the Dead" celebration developed from the traditions of pre-Columbian cultures, and centers around honoring our ancestors. The original festival was celebrated in the ninth month of the Aztec calendar, and has since moved to coincide with All-Saints Day, All-Souls Day, and Halloween. The traditional Day of the Dead festival includes offerings to the ancestors, traditionally fruit and nuts, incense and flowers.
