Doppelgänger Dance Collective's THE FIRST FOUR - Presented by The Dance Complex
THE FIRST FOUR, Doppelgänger Dance Collective's (DDC) inaugural, evening length concert, featuring four contemporary duet works, accompanied by string ensemble, will be danced by Shura Baryshnikov and Danielle Davidson on November 18th at 8PM and November 20th at 6PM, 2016 at The Julie Ince Theatre, presented by The Dance Complex in Cambridge, MA.

DDC, as Artists in Residence at The Dance Complex, would like to thank Peter DiMuro for the opportunity to re-stage this program for audiences in the Greater Boston Area. The 75-minute concert presents works by an esteemed group of local and national dancemakers: Heidi Henderson (RI), Paul Singh (NYC), Sydney Skybetter (RI), and B.J. Sullivan (NC).  Accompanied by a New England based string ensemble comprised of: Josie Davis (violin), Hannah Ross (viola),  Adrienne Taylor (cello), and Ethan Wood (violin) .

doppelgänger
däplaNGr/
noun

1. an apparition or double of a living person.
   German translation: literally, double-walker.

Doppelgänger Dance Collective (DDC), co-founded in 2015 by dancers Shura Baryshnikov and Danielle Davidson, fosters the creation and performance of original, contemporary choreographic work for duet performance. Completing each other's movement from the start, they conceived of a performance project that framed or captured this shared duality, their immediate bodily complicity. DDC is the tangible result of these dialogues and showcases a commitment to the inclusion of live music in performance and to the creation of interdisciplinary works. They offer choreographic commissions to a diverse group of artists each season. Furthermore, DDC is committed to public accessibility and service to the community, through mentoring and teaching opportunities, as well as informal showings and presentations.
