One of These Things First is a poignant reminiscence of a 15-year-old Jewish boy in Brooklyn in the early sixties and his unexpected
trajectory from a life behind a rack of dresses in his grandmothers bra and girdle store to Manhattans fabled Payne Whitney Psychiatric Clinic. Throughout this highly engaging memoir, Gaines unveils a wild cast of characters who subtly changed him in the most unexpected ways; among them is a young psychiatrist who promises to cure Gaines of his homosexuality and give him the normalcy for which he so longs. Steven Gaines is a best-selling author, journalist, and radio show host with 12 books to his credit.
Single tickets are $18 each; Premier Passes (good for all JBF author events throughout the year) are $95.00.
FREE student tickets are available only at the J's Box Office at the Staenberg Family Complex in Creve Coeur or at the door of the event with a valid ID.
