ANATOMY IN CLAY Workshop -- Comparative Human Anatomy: Joints of the Elbow and Knee
In this four-hour workshop, participants will learn the major ligaments and cartilage by building them with clay on realistic scale skeletal models.
Through embodying the pedagogy of the ANATOMY IN CLAY Learning System, attendees gain a profound understanding of their bodies by learning form and function.
Taught by Founder and Director Jon Zahourek, this workshop using Jon Zahourek's ANATOMY IN CLAY Learning System.
Continuing Education Credit opportunities; PMA CECs available. Ask about our Alumni Credits. Example Principles Taught in Workshop:
Bones seem to move freely at the joints between them, however, the function of most joints is to restrict movement. The bio-engineering of articular surfaces, cartilages, and encapsulated synovial fluids narrowly channel range-of-motion, making it as predictable as possible for efficient mobilization of muscular force.
The principal strength of our hard skeleton is in its nearly rigid resistance against gravity's compressive, bending, and torquing forces. Tensile forces require different anatomy. They require flexibility and elasticity within our soft skeleton of anatomical fabrics. Their spectrum of functional potential depends on how collagen fibers are arranged within its fabrication.

Cancellation Policy: The entire workshop amount paid may be refunded or applied to another workshop if registrant cancels at least seven days before the date of the workshop. Cancellations made in less than seven days of the workshop may only be applied to another future workshop. Anatomy in Clay Centers reserves the right to cancel workshops due to circumstances beyond our control or when enrollment is deemed insufficient. In this event, all deposits, tuitions and fees will be refunded. Anatomy in Clay Centers cannot be responsible for workshops, or portions of workshops that registrant or participants miss due to illness, emergency, or other events beyond the control of the Center. Anatomy in Clay Centers cannot be responsible for losses incurred by any registrant due to airline fares or other travel arrangements in the event that the workshop must be canceled or postponed. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
1. For workshops 8 hours or less in length , cancellation must be made 7 days prior to the start of class.
2. For workshops 8 to 16 hours in length, cancellation must be made 10 days prior to start of class.
3. For workshops 40 hours or more , cancellation must be made 21 days prior to start of class.
4. After that Tuition paid may be transferred to a future workshop.
Unmoderated, the powerful forces generated by our muscle function leveraged in mechanical advantage within our hard skeletons would rip our anatomy to pieces. We must look both to our hard and soft skeletons to capture that power and keep it functional.
