Fences by August Wilson
Set in 1950s Pittsburgh, Fences tells the story African American garbage collector Troy Maxson and his struggles with his family and life. Written by August Wilson, Fences premiered on Broadway in 1983 and won a Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize. In 2010, the play was revived with Denzel Washington and Viola Davis and will become a major motion picture this fall.
