Tommy Alexander
Tommy Alexander's music career is summed up in one word: passion. In the past five years, he's released two full-length LPs, two EPs and founded an artist collective and record label. His new album, Old News, will be released on Su Casa Records. The album features a new sound for Alexander, but draws on familiar influences that listeners love. Produced by Mike Coykendall (M. Ward, Blitzen Trapper, She and Him, Bright Eyes), the collection combines groovy beats with traditional folk influences, mixing modern sounds with meaningful messages. The title track tells a mid-tempo tale as old as time about the end of love, while tracks like "Everyday, Every Dime," and "Victory" combine indie vibes and bold guitars for sounds that make the perfect addition to any mixtape curated for a drive down the coast. Alexander also enlists the help of Robert Burger (Iron and Wine) and Jay Cobb Anderson (Fruition) on the album. Alexander's had a whirlwind few years, first founding Jenke, an artist collective and record label based in Burlington, Vermont in 2011. He has toured extensively across the US, and eventually settled in Portland, Oregon, where he met Coykendall. Old News is the follow up to Basement Soul, which was released in April 2014. He has also released music as Quiet Lion; Huffington Post called their 2012 effort, Whatever You Say, "authentic...strikingly truthful...downright mind-bending."
