Montclair Culinary Academy - ADVANCED KNIFE SKILLS (AGES 12+)
This challenging class has been specially designed for teens and for more advanced junior chefs. We because of that (and the longer time slot) we have set our sights high: making a chicken pot-pie from scratch!
As well as making pastry you will perfect your chopping skills preparing the vegetables and chicken filling. Previous cooking experience required.
Good knife skills - everything from how to hold a knife properly to being able to cut like a pro - lies at the heart of all good cooking. Not only is it safer, but also it is the most efficient and effective way to work in the kitchen. This class will cover how to: Correctly hold a kitchen knife Correctly hold food while cutting Avoid injuries
And will feature great tips for: Chopping kitchen staples (e.g. onions) Basic knife cuts Cutting uniformly Choosing and maintaining a knife
