Psmith, Journalist
Our 2016-17 season commences with Psmith, Journalist, concerning the journalistic exploits of monocle-wearing dandy and Cambridge student Psmith while on summer vacation in New York.  He takes over a small weekly named Cozy Moments, which specializes in household tips and such, and begins using it to expose slumlords and promote boxers.  Of his efforts he has this to say:  "The work is not light.  Sometimes the cry goes round, 'Can Psmith get through it all? Will his strength support his unquenchable spirit?' But I stagger on. I do not repine."  

The P that begins his name is silent ("as in pshrimp," he helpfully points out), but he himself is not.  He is wittily eloquent in any situation, always confident that, as he puts it, "with the aid of the Diplomatic Smile and the Honeyed Word I may manage to pull through."

From the mid-1980s through the first half-decade of this century, City Lit produced a Wodehouse show every year.  We are happy to return to Wodehouse after a seven-year hiatus.
