Algorithms, Emergence, and the Unexpected Movement of Triangles
Drawing on the concepts touched on in his article, Algorithms, Emergence, and the Unexpected Movement of Triangles, Scott Thiessen will explore the strange process of emergence that organizes and animates flocks of birds, coral reefs, weather patterns and cities, how computer simulations can reveal the hidden beauty in nature, and what insights we can gain into our creative work from these ideas.

After Thiessen's presentation, Karen Cheng will engage in conversation and Q&A with Scott and the audience.

Scott Thiessen develops multitouch interactive experiences for museums and public spaces at Belle & Wissell, Co. in Seattle and teaches coding to design students.

Karen Cheng is professor of visual communication design at the University of Washington, where she teaches information design and data visualization.

Tickets are limited and available first come, first served.

No host bar will be available.
