Basic Plant ID: Forests
This class will focus on identifying the common trees and understory plants of a typical northwest forest. We will learn to compare leaves, stems, fruits and flowers and notice key traits of the plants. Examples of plants we will learn about are: salmonberry, red alder, Douglas fir, fringecup, western red cedar, avens and trailing blackberry. On the same day as this workshop, I will teach the Intro to Local Plant Medicine: Forests class at the same location. Feel free to sign up for both!
Participants will need to be able to walk around 1/2 mile (slow pace) on forest trails.
