This course will be an exploration of Reform Judaism, addressing the theology, ideology and liturgy of the movement. We will explore its origins in 19th century Germany, and its rise in the United States and Israel; examine some of its great thinkers like Hermann Cohen and Eugene Borowitz; and identify how its ideology is conveyed through its liturgy and sacred music.
