Toyguitar, Brown Bags, Boys on the Wall, The Shanghais
Describing the sound of toyGuitar is like describing the color orange or the taste of peppermint it is at once familiar, but unlike anything else. Their songs are a mess of hooks and melodies; frantic blasts of energy that stay with you like a nervous twitch that you hope never goes away. The band lists a disparate palette of musical influences from the past, the present and, yes, even the future. And that is where this is all headed the future. Forget about punk pedigrees and members of monikers, toyGuitar is about the now sounds of tomorrow today.
Brown Bags is four schmucks from Santa Rosa, CA. Spawned from the ashes of nothing of consequence, they exist as indentured servants to first-wave emo, but secretly make pagan sacrifices to the gods of 50s soul. In between buffing marble staircases and polishing shoes to pay off their massive gambling debt, they managed to find the time to record an EP in a garage somewhere. It was crafted autonomously, soaked in blood, sweat, and tears.
