Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's first collaboration, Oklahoma!, in many ways remains their most innovative creation, having set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre still being followed today. Set in Western Indian Territory just after the turn-of-the-20th-Century, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful backdrop for the love story between Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a beautiful farm girl. The road to true love seldom runs smooth, however, and a farmhand, Jud, also has his eyes on Laurey. As the road to romance and the road to statehood converge, Curly and Laurey are poised to spend their new life together in a brand new state: OKLAHOMA!
