Solemn Oath Extract Homebrew Class
Are you hooked on craft beer? Have you ever wondered how to brew your favorite style? Is there a homebrewing kit collecting dust in your closet?
Solemn Oath Brewery is hosting a beginners homebrewing class just for you. And a couple dozen other people. Led by Solemn Oath Assistant Brewer and experienced educator Paul Schneider, this hands-on class will guide you through an extract homebrew from start to finish.

You will learn the contributions of each of beer's ingredients to its final appearance, aroma, flavor, and mouthfeel. You will drink some beer. You will understand the process of getting each ingredient to do its job properly. You will drink some more beer. You will learn how to NOT screw everything up. Ultimately, you will leave this class with a serious appreciation for the brewer's art, which is 90% janitorial, 5% science, 5% alchemy, and 100% rad.
We will tour the brewery to learn how homebrewing translates to full-scale production brewing, and we will certainly visit the taproom to stay nourished.

Ingredients - selecting and caring for water, malt, hops, yeast, and adjuncts
Equipment - what's really necessary to get started v. what's really nice to have
Process - boiling, chilling, pitching, fermentation
Sanitation - how to NOT screw everything up
Recipes- to kit or not to kit?
Racking and packaging - how to transfer beer and prepare it for drinking
Resources - a guide to local homebrew shops and clubs, books, magazines, free online recipe tools and calculators, etc.
