CANCELED - BIMA Summer Art Camp - Please contact Kristin Tollefson, Education Director, at kristin@biartmuseum.org with questions.
Students entering 5th through 8th grade are invited to come spend an exciting week at BIMA exploring the human form through various mediums including drawing, wire sculpture, printmaking and more. Our week culminates with a walking field trip to a local beach where we will learn about land art and try our own hand at creating a temporary sculpture on site. Students will use the museum's exhibitions as inspiration as well as the work of artists including Henry Moore, Picasso, Giacometti, Elisabeth Frink, Niki de Saint Phalle and Andy Goldsworthy.

Classes meet Monday, July 18 through Friday, July 22 from 10am to 2pm in the 2nd floor BIMA Classroom. There will be a walking field trip to Hawley Cove Beach on Friday.

7/18 - Figure drawing: gesture drawing, proportion, and the human form followed with figurative wire sculptures.

7/19 - Plaster wrap & paper-mache: covering our wire figures and making beads.

7/20 - Printmaking: mono-prints and using paint to build layers and textures.

7/21 - Surface design: finishing our wire figures using a variety of techniques.

7/22 - Walking field trip and land art at Hawley Cove Beach

Taught by Isobel Coney and Mary McCormic-McInnis. All art materials provided, but please bring your own lunch and healthy snacks each day. For Friday's field trip also remember to wear comfortable shoes and clothes, bring a water bottle and wear sunscreen.
