Braiding Wisdom Series: The Talking Stick/Transforming the Conversation with Self and with Others
This session will offer an opportunity to explore the wisdom of the Talking Stick as a tool that offers us a tangible opportunity to deepen our presence and our ability to listen to ourselves and to others. We will do so using our senses. Participants will have an opportunity to begin to design a Talking Stick for themselves of for their family, group or community.
Efrat Livny, a resident artist and healer at Threshold, creates objects that foster listening, self-expression and communication from a place of balance, receptivity and wisdom. Inspired by the cultural, aesthetic and wisdom traditions of the Native Americans, Buddhism and the Middle East, she brings together objects that she collects in nature and during her extensive world travels. She works with individual and groups to collaborate in the creation of their unique Talking Stick.
