CRP presents EQUUS
JULY 8-10 / 15-17 / 22-24 . FRI-SAT @ 8 PM / SUN @ 5 PM . TICKETS $25
In the 1970s, Shaffer was inspired to write his award-winning, critically acclaimed modern classic, Equus, after hearing of a crime involving a 17-year-old boy, who blinded six horses in a small town near Suffolk, England. He set out to construct a fictional account of what might have caused the incident, without knowing any of the details of the crime. The play follows Dr. Martin Dysart's attempts to understand the cause of the young man's actions while wrestling with his own sense of purpose. Equus is a philosophical, dark, and haunting play that remains revered among the best modern plays of the century. Join* CRP for a bold summer production of this daring modernist play at Fountain Square's Grove Haus, starring some of Indianapolis' most prolific and inspired stage talents. *Recommended 16+, play contains nudity, violence, and strong language.
