Upstairs Studio Theatre of the Hollins Little Theatre
Presentation made possible by the New Works Initiative of the Hollins Playwright's Lab

June 30, 8pm

All proceeds go to the New Works Initiative, a fund established for the production and presentation of work associated with the Graduate Program in Playwriting at Hollins University.

About the show:
Spending lonely weeks in Kansas teaching a group of mentally-troubled kids, Sean Lewis is pulled into a sudden rush of discoveries about his own unsettling past. Sean's long-estranged biological father forces him to endure the strife of their troubled relationship one more time, before leaving Sean to pick up the pieces and figure out what it all means.

About the writer/performer:
Sean Christopher Lewis' plays have won the Kennedy Center's Rosa Parks Award, and the National New Play Network's Smith Prize. Lewis is also a noted actor, working Off Broadway at the Pearl Theatre, in NYC at LaMama, ETC, in television and feature films from Comedy Central's Upright Citizen's Brigade to God's Country.

Sean Lewis has taught everywhere from schools for the exceptionally gifted in Eastern Iowa to prisons in North Philadelphia to villages in East Africa. His workshops use popular forms (hip hop, movies, basic storytelling) to empower writers to find their own voice. Whether breaking down a popular song by Wiz Kalifa to see the story structure inherent in the rap lyrics or creating abridged versions of popular movies to get right to the drama, the workshops make writing less mystical and more fun.
