Politics & Prose Presents Annie Proulx
Annie Proulx gained widespread attention with the Academy Award-winning film adaptation of her story, Brokeback Mountain, but she has long been well known and beloved by readers of literary fiction: The Shipping News, which won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the Irish Times International Fiction Prize, is just one example among many of her accolades and acclaimed works. Her new novel, BARKSKINS, opens on the lives of two indentured woodcuttersbarkskins--and traces their story through four generations and across several continents, charting decades of adventure and hardship as the mens descendants live on the seemingly inexhaustible resources of the forests.
