Mendocino Dance Project
Arena Theater proudly presents live and on stage the Mendocino Dance Project, a well-established local dance company blending various dance forms to create a unique style.
Dancer and choreographer Kara Starkweather created the Mendocino Dance Project in 2005 with the goal of inspiring a more vibrant dance community on the Mendocino Coast. Under Starkweathers artistic direction and perseverance, the company continues to grow and expand.
At Arena Theater, the company will perform four pieces at a total length of 90 minutes with one intermission.
Relations
This piece looks at how we relate to one another in space, both emotionally and physically.
Tides Edge
This quintet is choreographed by Ann Woodhead and performed by the Mendocino Dance Project. It is inspired by her many years of living on the edge of the ocean.
Sit With It
Created and performed in 2015, this piece explores the plight of the modern mother in her hopes to find balance in motherhood and her own passionate self.
Out of Bounds
This piece challenges the range of possibilities that exist when we are literally bound to each other.
Performing dancers are Alicia Abuliak, Priya Birchard, Kristi Bohlen,Stuart Hayter, Mackenzie Rain, Chelsy Rathblott, and Kara Starkweather.
