Wars of Heaven: Smackdown!
"This divine and diabolical smackdown rocks the SVT stage right here in Austin, Texas, as Trouble Puppet Theater Company presents an original, stand-alone installment in their Wars of Heaven trilogy. Funded in part by the Jim Henson Foundation, unleashing a unique entertainment at the intersection of pro wrestling, televangelism, political debate, and a troupe possessed of the maddest, baddest puppeteering skills."
Smackdown provides a spectacle for its times! Rabbit, one of the fighters in the match, sets about trying to un-rig a game that has been rigged for millennia. But how do you fight the most powerful Powers That Be?
Trouble Puppet takes its always innovative and visually compelling puppetry to a larger-than-life scale!
With special musical guests from LOLA, nightly!
The show is created by the company (a mainstay of Chronicle Top-10 lists) that brought Austin award-winning productions of The Jungle, Riddley Walker, Toil and Trouble, The Cruel Circus, The Head, Hyde & Jekyll, Wars of Heaven: Part I, and Frankenstein.
ASL interpretation by Emily Niswonger May 6.
