Pride and Joy - Spring Concert
For over 15 years, the Oakland-East Bay Gay Men's Chorus has been bringing innovative and traditional choral concerts to the Bay Area. Originally founded by Dick Kramer, the 40-person ensemble is under the artistic direction of former Chanticleer member and choral conductor William Sauerland. The Oakland-East Bay Gay Men's Chorus will be singing repertoire from local groups such as the Pointer Sisters and Carlos Santana. We are thrilled to announce two original works, one composed by Jack Curtis Dubowsky and another from Gabriella Lena Frank.
In addition to rep from Oakland, we are excited to be singing with two other regional Choruses, The Berkeley Community Chamber Singers and The Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco.
The Berkeley Community Chamber Singers (BCCS) is an a cappella group of approximately 25 singers that serves as the outreach arm for Berkeley Community Chorus and Orchestra. BCCS typically sings shorter pieces ranging from madrigals to gospel to pop songs and performs at such diverse venues as senior residences, hospitals, and a variety of community functions. The Berkeley Community Chamber Singers is led by Music Director Derek Tam.
The nation's oldest self-identified LGBT mixed chorus, the Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco is dedicated to building and enriching the Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender (LGBTQ+) community through song and a love of music. Since LGCSF's first concert 35 years ago at a local middle school, the Chorus has performed around the world, and hundreds of times in the San Francisco-Bay Area. The Chorus has provided a forum for San Francisco?s gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and ally music lovers to develop their talents, find good friends, and share their gifts with San Francisco?s diverse communities.
