The Artful Homestead: Digging Into Daily Ritual

Imagine writing, snuggling with goats, making jam, swimming in a secret garden pool, foraging for beautiful things, photographing, yoga, camping under the stars, digging in the garden, preparing and eating fantastic food, storytelling around the campfire and other wondrous things that will fuel our creative souls.

That's what we'll be doing Memorial Day weekend at Windrush Farm, and we want you to join us!

A fourth generation Montanan raising a fifth, Nici is a writer, photographer, maker and doer. She likes good storytelling about easily-overlooked, relatable stuff. She believes perspective shapes reality, kid wisdom is magic, digging dirt is religious and jumping in cold creeks is the secret to contentment. Her creative work is multi-faceted. She writes: an essayist at mamalode.com and crafty contributor at eHow.com. And, she makes: running a handmade business www.shopgeo.net with international reach from the basement of her home. Nici authors an award-winning blog digthischick.net where she chronicles adventures with her children, craft, food, place and experience.

This weekend is for people who want to explore, grow and create. The whole thing takes place on Windrush Farm, a real working farm located in Chileno Valley, CA. Participants will get dirt under their fingernails and forget about unanswered emails. Special bonus: no cell service! You can expect a comfortable yet rustic experience grounded in nature, community and expression.

Together with lifestyle photographer and best friend of twenty years, Paige Green, as well as other regional artisans, Nici will lead participants on adventures in writing, nature exploration, art-making, photography, cooking, gardening and movement. Our days will have a good balance of light, leisurely flow and focused activity time to relax and explore at your own pace balanced with time to interact, engage and accomplish. The evenings will take root in a healthy, shared meal followed by fireside storytelling, swims in the secret garden pool and sleeping under the stars.
