Circulation: Connecting Through Embodying Rhythm
This cabaret features the work by Bob Deboer and BrassZilla + Friends with Erinn Liebhard, the Eclectic Edge Ensemble, Karla Grotting, Arturo Miles, SEE MORE PERSPECTIVE, Dameun Strange, Darrius Strong, THE SUMMER COATS and Magnolia Yang-Sao-Yia. Classic jazz, waacking, rock, tapping, acid jazz, funk, house, swing and other approaches to rhythm will circulate through this evening, connecting styles and people through deeply-felt aural and kinesthetic experiences.

The Show:
Choreographer Erinn Liebhard and musician Bob DeBoer and his ensemble BrassZilla (and friends!) team up to investigate translating to dance the jazz music culture of it aint what you do its how you do it when sharing in the experience of performing standard tunes.
Karla Grotting's trio, No Habla Español, explores the body's response to the irresistible groove of Afro-Cuban rhythms in this lush jazz poem of the universal language of human rhythmic connection.
Through a mash up of original pieces accompanied by movement, SEE MORE PERSPECTIVE explores the ways paths converge, diverge, and compete for our attention.
The Eclectic Edge Ensemble performs an excerpt from Snow Bound!, a full evening blend of puppetry and dance musing on collective emotional and physical human experiences of winter.
With Chase Daniel Burkhart on guitar and vocals and Molly Kay Stoltz on tap board, vocals, tambourine, French horn, and ukulele, THE SUMMER COATS fuse a singer-songwriter mentality with rhythmic dance to bring sound into motion.
Dameun Strange will offer up cosmic grooves influenced by east coast house music.
Darrius Strong of STRONG Movement presents a new work exploring how movement develops out of conversation between participants, both dancers and audience alike.
Magnolia Yang-Sao-Yia is interested in building equity, visibility, and empowerment for women through movement, in this show investigating how the paradigms of patriarchy, the male gaze and hyper-sexualization of women in hip hop are shifting to reimagine what power looks like within Asian female bodies.
