Photographing Your Work Samples: The Specs + Tech
Make.Shift Art Space
Bellingham, WA
Share this event:

It's GAP season at Artist Trust! Strong work samples are key to competitive grant applications. This workshop, with 20-plus-year professional photographer Michelle Bates, is a comprehensive introduction to what it takes to photograph your artwork and work samples to get the results you want. Topics covered during the demo shooting section are: appropriate cameras, lenses, tripods, lights, and backgrounds. Well also discuss digital file types, when to use film, digital competition submissions, ways to print your images for sale, and how to sell them online.

Instructor: MICHELLE BATES

Michelle has been a professional photographer for over 20 years. Well-known in the fine-art world for her low-tech Holga camera photography (including teaching others about the genre), she also shoots live performance and promotional images and portraits in the digital world. She has a long history of photographing artwork in film and digital, as one of the many ways she enjoys helping other artists present their work to the world.
