The Tempest
Emmy Award-winning animator, Michael Granberry (Anamolisa, Tumble Leaf, Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas) helms this Shakespeare classic for Wilmington, NC's award-winning Shakespeare production company, Dram Tree Shakespeare. Opening Night Only-Tickets $10 at the door only for Film & Theater Professionals.
The Tempest takes place on a remote island populated by the sorcerer, Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan, and his daughter, Miranda, and other magical spirits of the island. Prospero, thru skillful illusion and machinations plots to restore his daughter to her rightful place and reveal the wicked nature of his usurping brother, Antonio. Prospero conjures a great tempest to trap and scatter the shipwrecked throughout the enchanted island and complete his revenge.Affairs of the heart intervene, however, and a tale headed for tragedy becomes one of reconciliation and forgiveness.
Through fantastical creature development, puppetry, dance, music and special effects, audiences will be transported to this mystical island from just off the sidewalks of Historic downtown, Wilmington, NC into the transformed McEachern's Warehouse at 121 South Front Street.
