Mandorla Music is honored to host Charlie Kohlhase's tribute to his late friend and collaborator, the Danish-Congolese saxophonist & composer John Tchicai (April 28, 1936 - October 8, 2012), a few days after what would've been his 80th birthday. Charlie says, "We'll present a program of Tchicai compositions dating from the 1960's to the 2000's...representing John's work with such groups as the New York Contemporary 5, the New York Art Quartet and many more. Musicians include Daniel Rosenthal: trumpet & flugelhorn; myself on alto, tenor & baritone saxophones; Jason Robinson: alto & tenor saxophones & alto flute; John Ehlis & Eric Hofbauer: guitars; Aaron Darrell: bass and Curt Newton: drums."
