Re-Entering the Great Hall Exploring the world of Viking Archeology
With her expert knowledge of Viking Archeology, Professor Vejby will take us into the 'Great Hall', the central part of Viking tradition, a gathering place where community members would eat, dance, sing, tell stories, and sleep.
Mara Vejby is an Instructor at the Sonoma State University OLLI program and Adjunct Lecturer at Santa Rosa Junior College. She has worked as an archaeologist/anthropologist in California, Ireland, Armenia, and the UK. Mara was born and raised in Sonoma County, where she pursued her love of cultures, languages, histories, and art at SRJC and then UC Davis.
After getting her BA from the University of California, Davis, she studied in Ireland and got her masters in Archeology from University College in Cork and, later, her PhD from the University of Reading, U.K. Her most recent lecture series for OLLI was on the topic of "Scandinavian Archaeology: Digging Beowulf".
A traditional Scandinavian Brunch will be served. Mimosas will be available for purchase.
