Generations: Avant-Garde Jewish Poetry
Beat Generation poetry legend David Meltzer teams up with Palo Alto poet and educator Jake Marmer for a night of poetry that reflects and deflects on the Jewish experience. Please join us for the reading, and stick around for questions and discussion!

David Meltzer began his literary career during the San Francisco Beat and Berkeley Renaissance period in North Beach in San Francisco. He is the author of over 40 books of poetry, fiction and essays. In 2008, he received the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants to Artists Award. He was also given the Bay Area Guardian's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jake Marmer is a poet, performer, and educator. His jazz/Klezmer/poetry recording Hermeutic Stomp was recently released by Blue Thread Music, while his poetry collection, Jazz Talmud, was published by Sheep Meadow Press in 2012. Currently a doctoral candidate at the CUNY Graduate Center, he teaches at Kehillah Jewish High School in Palo Alto.
