YOUTH LAGOON

Trevor Powers started making music under the moniker Youth Lagoon in 2010. At that time, he was studying English at the local university in Boise and began writing songs as a way to embody the world around him. Those songs are what makes up his debut album, The Year of Hibernation. "Youth Lagoon isn't me, but a part of me." says Powers. "I've been playing music since I was younger but always tried to define myself by what music I played. I tried to find a sense of meaning in it. But it wasn't until I realized I was more than just music, that I was able to create music that means something to me. And that is Youth Lagoon. I don't think I could ever write a completely happy album. It's not that I'm not a happy person," claims Powers, "but I just have too many things in my mind that haunt me."
