From Theory to Action: Entrepreneurs Take on World's Pressing Problems
6:30 pm Doors Open; 7 - 8:30 pm Lecture. Refreshments provided.

Join us for a rare opportunity to hear Mercy Corps CEO Neal Keny-Guyer and Skoll Foundation CEO and President Sally Osberg discuss Osberg's new book, co-authored with Roger Martin, Getting Beyond Better: How Social Entrepreneurship Works. Passionate about mobilizing communities, these two two leaders offer an invigorating dialogue about the power of social entrepreneurship and best practices for transformative change, from theory to action.

"Poverty, worsening income-wealth-opportunity disparity, and climate change are threatening the world. To make the world socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable, we need to bring out the social entrepreneur in all of us. This enlightening yet deeply practical book [;;;;;Getting Beyond Better];;;;; will help us do that." -Muhammad Yunus, founder, Grameen Bank; Winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize.

*Osberg currently serves on the boards of the Skoll Foundation, the Skoll Global Threats Fund, the Oracle Education Foundation, and the Palestine-based Partners for Sustainable Development. She was founding Executive Director of Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose, guiding that institution to international recognition for its cutting edge work in the museum field, and formerly active as a director on the boards of the American Association of Museums, the American Leadership Forum, and Women and Philanthropy, among others.

Osberg founded the Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship, the largest gathering of innovators around the world. As Advisor to The Elders and Founding Board Member of the Social Progress Imperative and Index, Sally has worked to drive an enabling environment for social change. She has also formed strategic partnerships with the UN, USAID, Sundance, TED, and Oxford and is an advisor for the External Reference Committee for the Government of Australia's aid program.
