The Lectures
Stefan Brün
"Brecht, Ionesco and the Spirituality of Work Real or Surreal"
February 15
An exploration that seeks to dust off cliches for their currency, reframe spirituality from a somewhat Epicurian point of view and examine the 20th Century tendency toward trying to escape the pitfalls of language without fearingwhat has never occurredpolitical correctness.

Robin Cline
"False States of Emergency: Leveraging the Zombie Apocalypse"
January 25, February 1
When Cline's 4th grader brings home a non-fiction reading assignment about the importance of the Zombie Apocalypse, Cline questioned the article's framework. The news story, inspired by a 2015 CDC thought experiment and educational campaign claimed that fake emergencies can change people's real behavior. Cline explores how people perform a whole range of "emergency scenarios" both real and imagined, and questions if there is a "signature pedagogy", an appropriate way to learn and practice being in danger.

Ira S. Murfin
"The Minutes from Our Last Meeting"
January 25, February 22
The minutes from our last meeting constitute a collective autobiography, a repository of what we have done so far, what we meant to do, and what we hope to do next time. At the next meeting Ira S. Murfin will read the minutes from our last meeting into the record, after which he will ask that they be approved and adopted by the assembled. Part found history, part accidental group self-portrait, part disquisition in defense of the utility and unwitting humanity of institutionalized inefficiency, the minutes from our last meeting memorialize what we did and what we tried to do the last time we got together, and serve as evidence that it was not a waste of time.
