Paper Mâché Workshops
This is a three-session class with artist Jesus Barela. The class will cover all the steps to creating your first pâper maché sculture. During session 1 Jesús will help you design your sculpture and you will begin creating the structure for your piece. Session 2; on May 26th you will put your begin putting your piece together so that it can be ready for session 3 on June 2nd- dedicated to painting and adding details to your first sculpture.
All levels welcomed. Class is limited to 20 people. Ages 8 and above. All materials provided.
Bio of instructor: Jesus Barela holds a BA fromCalifornia State University Sacramento and has exhibited in and around the Sacramento Region. His popular larger-than-life paper mâché Catrina (for Día de los Muertos) and his expertise in the medium makes him a sought after artist/teacher. Jesus has taught at the Crocker Museum, La Galería Posada and other gallery's in the region as well as in Centro Cultural in Tijuana, México.
