Workshops for the 2016 Santa Barbara Floor to Air Festival take flight Sunday, March 20 thru Thursday, March 24, presenting the groundbreaking genre of contemporary movement from the ground, up! The first festival in California to highlight the organic relationship between floor and air movement, FAF unites professionals, students of all levels, spectators, and supporters for one week of exclusive workshops, intimate soirees, and a culmination performance and gala at the historic Lobero Theatre. This year's roster of professional artists have traveled across continents and stages to present conceptual work that pushes past the traditional. They are choreographers, Fulbright contenders, ENC graduates, and artists hailing from Manhattan to Toulouse, offering artists of all levels and experiences (including a Petites Artistes workshop for students ages 8-14)invaluable training from a diverse roster of approaches. In addition, workshop participants will gain exclusive access to intimate gatherings throughout the week, cultivating knowledge and relationships in a festive and supportive environment. The festival will culminate in an ensemble performance with our resident artists, followed by a lively reception. Take the week off, dance the winter blues away, and join us on the luscious American Riviera for this groundbreaking opportunity to immerse yourself in the art of contemporary flight!
