Free Speaker Series: Professor John Norton, Concordia University
Humiliating Hamlet a discussion with Dr. John Norton
The most famous tragic hero in history is driven by a complex mixture of emotions and desires. His father secretly murdered and his mother enthusiastic about a quick remarriage, Hamlet is flattened by the weight of injustice. Hamlets dangerous intellect and razor vision are sharpened by a personal quality rarely observed, humility. While often criticized for indecision, Hamlet's greatest strength is his mental and emotional vision. Shakespeare concocts a dangerously humble character in Hamlet, and the victory that results from his rise is inspiring. This presentation will analyze the power in Hamlet's humiliation, leading ultimately to his personal reformation and the reformation of the kingdom. The event is FREE but due to limited seating, reservations are recommended!
