When two frustrated London housewives decide to rent a villa in Italy for a holiday away from their bleak marriages, they recruit two very different English women to share the cost and the experience. Set in 1922, this is a journey of all four women, from the darkness and loss of World War I to the unrestrained joy of discovery, forgiveness and transformation.
