Acme Theatre Co. presents "I Gelosi"
I Gelosi, or The Jealous Ones, tells the story of Italy's first great traveling theatre troupe. In the late 16th Century the Gelosi takes the provinces by storm, thanks to the talent of their leading lady, Isabella Andreini and her husband Francesco. The Gelosi become the toast of Europe until they risk the wrath of the Pope. Betrayal and intrigue lurk in the shadows, as the company members struggle to balance their conflicting desires for profit, fame, love, food, rebellion, poetry and revenge!
