Arts & Above Presents VEIO from the soil
Dance Up Close/East Bay and Arts & Above present VIEO from the soil, an event about rituals, synthesis, and the force of love. Featuring Co-Artistic Directors Kate Jordan and Bruno Augusto in an intimate performance, this evening-length work of original movement, set, and sound is co-presented with Dance Up Close/East Bay, and premieres at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center in Berkeley on January 15-16 & 22-23, 2016.
"Vieo" is a Latin verb meaning to weave or plait. Jordan and Augusto, partners in both art and life, create with the deliberate intention to expose true love. They appear as two separate individuals, at first: The man as a lover, a thinker, a bum, an abuser, a narcissist, an achiever, a visionary. The woman as the bearer of the next, the friend, the scathing attacker of ideals, the revelation of fragility, the fighter, the peaceful, the rock.
Ms. Jordan and Mr. Augusto draw on their extensive experience and training in the creation and performance of contemporary movement, modern dance, sound, and visual art to create a sharp, fluid, honest journey through the physical and emotional essay of life.
