Issues of Choice and Challenge: MOVE's 10th Anniversary Education and Celebration Event
Wellspring Conference Center
Woodburn, OR
Share this event:

January 11, 2016

Program hours: 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Check-in/Networking begins at 12:45 p.m.

Ensuring that residents maintain independence and continue to exercise choice and control over their lives is foundational to the philosophy of person-centered care. But how can providers effectively balance the need for choice and independence with the equally compelling need to safeguard residents' safety and security?

To explore this question, panelists representing licensing, law enforcement, a long-term care provider, and a consumer will offer their perspectives. The panel will be moderated by Terri Harvath, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N., Associate Dean for Academics and Director for Clinical Education and Clinical Professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, UC-Davis, as well as past director of the Hartford Center for Geriatric Nursing Excellence at OHSU. Participants will have an opportunity to share their thoughts through a case-study exercise and Q & A session with panelists.

We'll end the day with a scrumptious dessert buffet and networking opportunity to celebrate MOVE's 10th anniversary of culture change in Oregon's long term care system.

Vassar Byrd - CEO, Rose Villa
Ana Potter - Manager, Community Based Care Licensing Unit
