2012 Boogie Down Dance: SOUL TO SOLE: NI'JA WHITSON, TAMARA WILLIAMS AND MALINDA
Ni'Ja Whitson presents root shock which re-imagines Yoruba diasporic Orisa storytelling traditions and excavates the relationship between trauma and the ancestral/spiritual world; Malinda Allen presents a section of her work The Part of Me In You exploring love, loss and survival and is compiled from neuroscientific studies, Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, and donated stories of wonderful discoveries, terrible mistakes, and the indescribable magic of true love; Tamara LaDonna's Moving Spirits, Inc. presents Morning Honeysuckle, Sunday's Greed which explores the journey of African Americans through history and demonstrates the bondage and recovery of oppression and how four women gain strength in overcoming obstacles that affect them emotionally and physically.
