War Photographer
Beyond The Image is curated by Clara Bastid, Maira Nolasco, and Zack Taylor

War Photographer
Christian Frei, 2002, 96 min.
For War Photographer, which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, Christian Frei followed James Nachtwey- one of the most famous war photographers in the world- for two years into the wars of Indonesia, Kosovo, and Palestine, as well as to other troubled areas around the globe. In War Photographer, special video micro-cameras are attached to Nachtwey's still camera. We hear every breath of the photographer and participate in the act of shooting images of war. And for the first time in the history of movies about photographers, this technique allows us the most intimate insight into the work of a concerned photojournalist.
