|  | EventMotion Control and Automation Field Trip -- Kris HammanCome explore the field of automation in our own backyard.  Trust Automation, located in San Luis Obispo, is opening their doors to show us what they make and how they do it.  Owned by two former Cal Poly students, Ty and Trudi Safreno, the combined skills of Ty's engineering talents and Trudi's business training has turned  this company into a successful business offering products and consultation for the control of all types of machines used all over the world for advanced military technology, in medical and industrial applications, for the semiconductor industry, and for green technology. 
 The couple started working together in 1990 and presently have  65 employees working in their 50,000 square foot building. In 2013 Trust Automation won the Central California Small Business of the Year Award - U.S. Small Business Administration.
 
 Kris Hamann, a Manufacturing Engineer for Trust Automation, will be our instructor for the class which includes a walking tour of the plant where you will be able to view and learn about current Trust Automation projects and see what is on the horizon.

Its electronics move the conveyors in X-ray machines at airports; power electric bikes and scooters; and help the oil industry to pump gas, among many other applications in the semiconductor, defense, medical, green technology and industrial automation industries.
 
 Kris Hamann graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He acquired a vast knowledge in manufacturing and design while working as a technician in the Manufacturing Engineering Department at Cal Poly.  After his time at Cal Poly, he was Senior Manufacturing Engineer in charge of all phases of manufacturing for Toomey Racing in Paso Robles for four years.  Then he transferred to Trust Automation.  He works in the Manufacturing Engineering group specializing in Design for Manufacturability and the mechanical design for test equipment.
