The Scavenger's Daughter
When John Pickett is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, his children Alan, Brian, and Connie find themselves in a virtual war with their stepmother Ruthie. At every turn she thwarts their efforts to secure John's care and the family's financial stability and finally resorts to a shocking act of violence. After investigating a crime scene that suggests domestic murder-suicide, Detective Maxine Travis must work her way through sibling conflicts, family secrets, and a case long cold until she understands what caused Ruthie Pickett to point a gun at her husband and pull the trigger.
