A German Christmas In Vancouver III
On December 2nd, 2015, the oratorio Singers of Vancouver will present a full classical concert of Advent, Christmas and Epiphany music from Germany with an emphasis on the German Romantics but including contemporary repertory. In addition there will be an opportunity to sing along with the choir on some well-known German Christmas songs and chorales.The choir will be accompanied by a chamber group of instrumentalists:Betty McBurney(flute), David Owen (oboe), Nancy DiNovo (violin) with organ and piano accompaniment assured by Michael Molnar (organ) and Kate Utegenova (piano). At the intermission, German baking will be on offer accompanied by a background of recorder music with the Bergamasca Consort. Motets by Brahms, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Bruckner, Rheinberger; works by Distler and Gabriel; songs will include Kommet ihr Hirten, Stille Nacht, Am Weihnahtsbaum die Lichter brennen, Der Heiland ist geboren, Es kommt ein Schiff geladen; chorales will include Macht hoch die Tür and Nun komm der Heiden Heiland.
