Set in two adjacent motel rooms on the seedy side of town, Vacancy was conceived in the tradition of Elemental Theatre Collective's annual Go.Go Plays: one play written by two playwrights, with surprising overlaps and simultaneous action. On one side of the wall, a small-time con has gone disastrously wrong. On the other, reality is being bent by illness, betrayal and a supernatural visitation. Vacancy takes the audience on a voyeuristic journey through two disparate worlds, linked by common themes of greed, depravity, sin, and redemption.
